Marshall Miller became interested in music at a young age, inspired by family members that are musicians.  He began studying drum set at the age of eight and has been committed and dedicated to music ever since.  In his youth, Marshall played drums for local punk bands such as, The Play Dead Movement and Sounds of Emergency, and performed around Utah and Salt lake counties, as well as winning local competitions.  As an orchestral percussionist, Marshall played timpani for the Utah Valley Youth Symphony, with whom he toured San Francisco in 2008.

Currently Marshall is Studying Percussion Performance at Southern Utah University, under the instruction of Dr. Lynn Vartan. As a performer Marshall has been a member of the SUU Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, New Music Ensemble and Drumline. He is also the co-founder of the Percussion Duo Project known as Vérlan, with fellow student and percussionist Darin Hunsinger.

While studying music in Southern Utah, Marshall began taking Composition lessons from Dr. Keith Bradshaw, and found an aspiration for composing his own works for an array of chamber ensembles.  While working as a composer and performer for Southern Utah University’s New Music Ensemble, Alternate Currents, Marshall is also putting together his own ensembles to play original compositions as well as participating in competitions for orchestral works.
